'Dhrona' audio launch on 1st Jan

‘Dhrona’ featuring Nithin and Priyamani as the hero and heroine has been directed by debutant J. Karuna Kumar. Producer DS Rao is making this movie on Sai Krishna Productions banner. Production work for the movie has been completed with the shooting schedules done. The story of a strict police father and his negligent son forms the plot of ‘Drona’. The situation that arises after he commits a crime carries the script forward filled with action, love and comedy. Right now, post-production work is in progress. The film is getting ready for a Sankranthi release. The audio of the movie is going to be released on 1st of January 2009. Priyamani who has joined the league of bikini women is going to walk in the skimpy costume for a song.

Queen watches 'King' in burkha

Starring Akkineni Nagarjuna and Trisha in the lead cast, ‘King’ directed by Sreenu Vaitla is now running in theatres successfully. It has been produced by D. Siva Prasad Reddy on Kamakshi Kalaa Movies banner. The movie had a bumper opening which became a super hit in the first week of its screening itself. AVM's production with Shekhar Kammula begins 7th Jan

Director Shekhar Kammula baked in the glory of ‘Happy Days’ for almost a year. He then made preparations to remake the movie in Hindi casting a group of young stars once again. His success history in Telugu cinema with the series of small budget hits like ‘Dollar Dreams’, ‘Anand’ and ‘Godavari’ paved his way into Bollywood. Yet, the movie didn’t go to the floors in time as planned. Meanwhile, he is now going to direct a movie which will be produced by the renowned AVM’s production company. Grandson of D. Rama Naidu and Son of D. Suresh Babu, Rana is being debuted into Tollywood as a hero by Shekhar Kammula. The film’s official launch will be done on 7th January next year. Holding a record of making new faces as superstars, Shekhar Kammula’s golden touch on Rana could be found out only when the movie comes out. His association with the popular production house AVM along with Rana might bring out a hit movie. We have to wait and watch how he’s going to churn out this new flick.

Sreenu Vaitla crops 'King'

Director Sreenu Vaitla has cropped 10 minutes of the movie ‘King’ to tighten up the movie’s runtime. Starring Nagarjuna, Trisha and Mamtha Mohandas, the movie has been produced by D. Sivaprasad Reddy on Kamakshi Kalaa Movies banner. The movie got released on 25th Dec on Christmas, amidst high expectations. The film had a bumper opening with 300 prints for screening in all the theatres. The movie was lauded as a great entertainer and rave reviews poured in. Yet, the most widespread talk was the movie is quite lengthy which creates boredom. Sreenu Vaitla in an attempt to provide a good entertainment has cropped 10 minutes from the movie. The resized version will be screened from tomorrow in all the theatres.

Vaibhav and Shwetha Prasad signed up for K Films

K Films is making a new movie starring Vaibhav and Shwetha Prasad in the lead cast. Director of ‘Seema Sastry’, G. Nageswar Reddy is directing this movie produced by Smt. A. Bharathi. Vaibhav is the son of well known director A. Kondandarami Reddy who debuted as a hero with ‘Godava’. He got a wider recognition after ‘Saroja’, a bilingual movie made in Telugu and Tamil. Swetha Basu Prasad is the bubbly actress from the latest hit ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ who plays the heroine. At present, the shooting is being done at different locations in Hyderabad. Scenes without the heroine are being canned now and Shwetha will be in the sets from 2nd January. Vaibhav and Brahmanandam are busy doing comedy scenes presently. Stunt master Selva is directing few stunts which are also being filmed. The unit will be in the same locale to finish off the talkie part of the movie. The other important cast includes Saleem Panda, Jaiprakash Reddy, Tarzan, Azad, Sravani. A new girl will be introduced as another heroine in this film. Art direction is by Narayan Reddy, screenplay by Gopi Mohan and dialogues are by BVS Ravi. Music is being composed by Premji Amaran. Cinematography is by K. Ravindrababu and editing is by Praveen.

Shekhar Kammula's newfound talent - Rana

Joining the list of Shekhar Kammula's new found talents like Raja, Varun Sandesh, Nikhil and Krishnudu is Rana. A big break in these above said stars career was evoked by Shekhar Kammula's Midas touch. His film 'Anand' with the tagline – 'Manchi Coffee Lanti Cinema' gave a definitive break for Raja. The same was re-rendered for Varun Sandesh, Nikhil and Krishnudu in the blockbuster flick 'Happy Days'. Tagged along with them it was also the launch pad for Sonia, Monalini and Vamsi Krishna. He was in the plan to remake 'Happy Days' in Hindi but it is being delayed for certain issues. In the meantime, he's now going to direct a new movie in Telugu. Icing the news is Rana, son of producer D. Suresh Babu and grandson of producer D. Rama Naidu, is being introduced as the hero. The movie which is being widely publicized as a fresh script starts shooting in the first week or from 14th January. Prestigious production company AVM Productions is going to make the film.

Pawan Kalyan behind bars

In the Nampally area in Hyderabad, Pawan Kalyan was arrested on the charge for creating a blockade. The popular actor and member of Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party, is also the president of the youth wing Yuva Rajyam. The state government of AP in a measure to eradicate the rising slum areas in Bheemrao Vada, near Nampally, organized a team to dislodge the dwellers. In order to bring the decision to vogue, the slums were disbursed forcibly by the government officials today. Protesting against the dislodgement, Pawan Kalyan accompanied by a group of young members from PRP reached the spot to support the people of Bheemrao Vada. He stated that this government says they are for the poor but actually works against the poor. We will not rest until we replace it with effective governance. He then consoled the local people and extended his support to them. Pawan Kalyan was arrested by the Nampally police for making a blockade during their dislodgement.

Varun Sandesh's forthcoming 'Evaraina Epudaina'

‘Happy Days’ and ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ are the two movies that acclaimed a wide recognition as a star for Varun Sandesh. Riding high on the success cloud, he’s acting in a movie which is being directed by Marthand K Shankar. The new movie is based on a love story which is being produced together by M.Sharvanan and MS Guhan on AVM Productions banner. Presently, the crew is busy shooting in the outskirts of Hyderabad city. The makers are planning to release the film in the month of April. The title logo release function was organized today on 27th December.

Jr. NTR to pair up with Nayantara

Nayantara has a special place in Tollywood and a huge fan base. But obviously she has attracted more fans after Dubai Seenu and Salute released. Slowly, this numero uno actress of Tamil Nadu is gaining a stronghold on Tollywood. Of late, many producers and heroes are keen on including her in their films. Balakrishna remarks cause ripples in TDP

It is ‘star trouble’ in Telugu Desam Party. It seems heroes from NTR family are causing troubles to party Chief N Chandrababu Naidu. It was Balakrishna, the star campaigner for the party in the next elections, who created embarrassment to Naidu by saying that if people wanted him to become the chief minister, he would become one. This statement caused much discomfiture to TDP leaders. Notwithstanding Balaiah’s assertion, the TDP leaders maintained that Balakrishna was not that ambitious and recalled his statement at Yuva Garjana in Guntur that his aim was to see Naidu as the chief minister. Balakrishna might have talked of Chief Minister’s post only after he was grilled by reporters, they maintained. Speaking to reporters here Thursday, party leader E Dayakar Rao said that there was no doubt that Naidu would become the Chief Minister. Balakrishna too decided to campaign for the party only to make Naidu as Chief Minister. Interestingly, Balakrishna is not member of the TDP though he had been campaigning for the party since NTR launched the party.

Naa Girlfriend Baaga Rich in post production

The film Naa Girlfriend Baaga Rich with Sivaji and Kaveri Jha in the lead has completed shooting and is now in post production. Kumar brothers are producing the film on the KBC banner. The film is a love story and it is about a young man who after completing his studies looks for a girlfriend. The hero prefers to have a girlfriend who is also fabulously rich. Will he succeed in his endeavour? This is the suspense element in the film. The audio will be released later this week and the film in the third week of January. Music is by Manthra Anand and screenplay and direction is by M Nagendrakumar.

Swathi teams with Kamal Kamaraju

Mohan Media Creations, which is producing Mental Krishna, is all set to start another film very soon. Swathi, who starred in the low-budget hit Ashta Chemma, will be the heroine. Kamal Kamaraju will be the hero in this film produced by Mohan Vadlapatla and directed by Satish of Hope fame. The producer said, "We are planning to begin regular shooting in the second half of January." Swathi's powerhouse performance in the Subramaniyapuram (Tamil) also spelt Subhramaniapuram, was critically acclaimed and the film went on to become the surprise hit of the season. Its success has turned Swathi into a highly sought-after actress overnight, both in Telugu and Tamil, and she has become an overnight sensation.

Saami IPS to bring back the charm of Saami

The successful Saami (Tamil) with Vikram and Trisha in the lead, is being dubbed into Telugu as Saami IPS by Mutyala Ramdas under Lakshmi Venkatasai Films banner. The film is all set for release on Christmas Day. Ramdas said, "Vikram shines in his role as a powerful police officer in this flick. The way he weeds out the anti-social elements will be quite innovative and interesting. Trisha's glamour will be an added attraction while Kota Srinivasa Rao's villainy would attract the audiences. Harris Jayraj scored six melodious tunes for the flick." The original Tamil film, titled Saami, was a runaway hit and propelled rising star Trisha into the big league.

Krishnudu plays hero again

The big boy Krishnudu was loved by everyone for his close to life portrayal of a guy's emotions in the recent 'Vinayakudu'. He debuted to Telugu cinema as a co-artist in 'Pokiri' and acted in a few films. But, Shekhar Kammula's 'Happy Days' was the movie that got him the much needed recognition. Later, Premkumar Patra's 'Vinayakudu' made him a star which was directed by Saikiran Adivi. Neethu Chandra's allegation on Rajasekhar and Jeevitha

Neethu Chandra has made an allegation against Rajasekhar and Jeevitha Rajasekhar for harassing and abusing her in the sets. 'Satyameva Jayathe' is Rajasekhar's movie under progress, directed by his wife Jeevitha. Neethu is a part of the lead cast as a heroine who has recently made this report to a Mumbai based newspaper. Reliable sources have confirmed the same and say that Neethu made this report about the ill treatment imposed on her by the makers of 'Satyameva Jayathe'. When she was dialed up to confirm the news, she retorted back with a yes. Reportedly, the actress has said that she was forced to stay against her wish in a prolonged movie schedule for some 16 hours altogether. She was harassed to be in the sets for a dance sequence, even after she refused to enact due to a sprain in her foot. In the end, she also reported that director Jeevitha and her husband, actor Rajasekhar have abused her beyond limits. The actress is said to be planning to file a case against them. To hear the other side of these complaints, the makers were contacted who denied all these allegations. We always treated her as one among us and not an artist, says the couple.

Komaram Puli schedule from 3 Jan

The latest schedule of Pawan Kalyan’s Komaram Puli will be starting on 3 January and will continue till 15 February. With this schedule, the talkie part of the film will be complete. The songs will be shot in March and the producer is planning to release the film in Summer of 2009. Nikhisha is doing female lead. SJ Surya directs this film. Director Mahadev, an associate of SS Rajamouli is directing this movie, produced by S. Krishna Prasad. Briefing on the movie, producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad said, “We have a good story for this film. The scenes and songs reeled in Ramoji Film City and Malaysia has all emerged well on the screen.” ‘From Thursday, 25th Dec till 30th, we will film a song in the locales of Rajahmundry, Polavaram, Ramachandrapuram and the surrounding areas of river Godavari. The song will feature hero Balakrishna, Chalapathi Rao, Balaiah, Surekha Vani, Sana and 20 other actors. Sridhar Reddy will choreograph the song. From 26th to 28th December Korean films are to be screened for the world cinema audience at Hyderabad. Hyderabad Film Club, Korean Residence Association and Mumbai Korean Consulate are jointly organizing this Film Festival. As a part of the festival, films which gave a twist to the Korean film industry, like 'Marrying the Mafia', 'Taegukgi', 'Beyond the Years', 'Running Wild', 'Seven Days', 'The King and the Clown' will be screened at Prasad Labs Theatre. The sexy Kaveri Jha, who was worked with Srikanth in Nagaram was mistaken for a farm hand and villager in Ooty and even told to “get to work quickly”. According to sources, “Around mid-November, she was shooting in the fields of Ooty for a movie. The outfit she was wearing looked so real, like those of the women working in the fields nearby. During a break in the shoot, she went for a walk to get some fresh air. I was walking around some fields when a farm supervisor approached and rebuked her. It took him a full five minutes to realize that she was an actress and not a local.” Apparently, Kaveri’s crew and unit hands, particularly the locals had a hearty laugh at her expense when she narrated the incident.

January is reserved for Mahesh and Trivikram

Puri starts his next with Pawan on Mar 27

‘Badri’ was the super hit flick that rose Pawan Kalyan’s image to stardom. Puri Jagannath directed this movie that was widely acclaimed and ran packed house in the screens. After a considerable gap, the winning team is coming back for a new project. Touted to be a high budgeted movie, it is going to be produced by actor Ganesh on Parameswar Arts banner. Puri was earlier quite busy with the story discussion in Bangkok and has completed it now. As the script is ready, the makers have planned to officially launch the film on 27th March, 2009. Once it goes to the floors, the shooting will be completed in succession to release the movie by 25th August, 2009.

15th Anniversary of MAA on 8th February

Movie Artists Association (MAA) has been established during the year 1993. The association completes its 15 years of since initiation in Telugu Film Industry this year. To commemorate the occasion, the association planned to celebrate the day in a gala event. However, in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks, they halted the celebrations and organized the Cine Santhi Yathra instead on 14th December, to condemn the act and to urge for peace. MAA has now planned to celebrate the 15th Anniversary in the upcoming February. Before the function, the association is launching its own website on January 26th, furnishing the details of movie artists in the industry.

SRK's 'Billu Barber' promo out

A script that has been made and re-made depicts it to be worthy enough. The Malayalam blockbuster 'Katha Parayumpol' starring Mamooty and Srinivasan is the first in this list. The makers envisaged the script which was widely acclaimed for its realism and close to life portrayal of the megastar. The movie was an ode to friendship which impressed Tamil superstar Rajinikanth to sign up the movie. It became 'Kuselan' in Tamil with Pasupathi replacing Srinivasan in the role of a barber. The movie made a decent run and people adored to see the star in his own self, an actor on screen. Now, the latest is 'Billu Barber' which has Bollywood King Sharukh Khan along with Irrfan Khan. The flick is being speculated as it has already been enacted by the top stars of Malayalam and Telugu. The promo video of 'Billu Barber' is out that shows a stylish SRK at his best.

Is 'Ghajini' banned?

Rumors are abuzz that the Bollywood 'Ghajini' starring Aamir Khan and Asin might be banned to be screened in Tamilnadu. Producer Salem A. Chandrasekaran has appealed in the court to halt Ghajini's release as he has not been compensated for the rights to remake it. He produced 'Ghajini' in Tamil earlier with Surya and Asin. Director AR Murugadoss made the movie which was a super hit in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. Later, he went to Bollywood and signed up to direct the movie once again in Hindi. But, the producer of Tamil version complained earlier that he holds the copyrights for the script. He lodged a complaint against the movie and the verdict is now out to ban the movie from being screened in theatres in Tamilnadu. This will be a big loss for the filmmakers and for Asin who has pinned high hopes to reach heights with her first Bollywood venture. Moreover, director Murugadoss will face the consequences of being neglected by Tamil producers in the future as he violated the rules.

Rajinikanth hitchhikes for 'Yanthram'

Rajinikanth, who was struck in a traffic-jam near Ennore, where the shooting of 'Endhiran' was on, was given assistance by a group of stunt men to reach the shooting spot without getting delayed on Monday. They managed to cover Rajinikanth with a huge coat and a helmet and took him on a motorcycle to the shooting spot. Rajinikanth was shooting for the movie at Ennore along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Director Shankar was canning a song sequence. Rajinikanth who left his residence in a car got struck up in a traffic jam near Ennore. He called up Shankar and said that it would be too difficult for him to reach the place. A busy industrial area, the road was blocked by several rows of Lorries. Shankar came up with an idea and sent a couple of stunt men with motorcycles. They helped Rajinikanth cover his face with a helmet and gave him a long coat. Then they took him in the two-wheeler to the shooting spot. All the crew members including Aishwarya were surprised to know that Rajnikanth had reached the place in a two-wheeler.

Sekhar to direct Nag

Sekhar, on the other hand, has not yet decided as to go ahead with Nag’s film or start another movieHappy Days in Hindi immediately. Nagarjuna has not committed for any other movie in 2009. As he wants to devote to expansion of his studio - Annapurna Studios and look after the maiden film of his son Naga Chaitanya. So he is ready to Sekhar's movie who shoots very liesurely. with a newcomer in Telugu. But it is almost certain that he won’t be directing Sekhar Kammula might be dropping off his idea to remake Happy Days in Hindi immediately. It is learnt that he is tentatively putting off the remake and go ahead with another Telugu film. Sekhar Kammula met recently Nagarjuna and the ‘romantic King’ is reportedly told the director to come up with a good story so that both of them ‘can work together immediately’. Nagarjuna openly expressed his wish to act under the direction of Kammula and has offered him blank dates for almost 10 months in 2009.

Long holiday for Pawan

Day after Christmas, Pawan Kalyan will be halting all the movie shootings and activities related to his films. In the coming 5 months, he will not participate in any of the movie shooting including Puli, being directed by S.J.Surya, that has already finished 60 percent. The reason is simple. He has decided to make a whirlwind tour through entire Andhra Pradesh by holding meetings for his 'Yuvarajyam', a youth wing of Chiranjeevi floated political party Praja Rajyam. Pawan has taken the charge as president of Yuvarajyam and he is starting his canvassing from December 26. Earlier Pawan Kalyan wanted to canvass for his party from Feb 2009 but things have changed now what with Prajarajyam party slowly losing initial euphoria. Pawan, who has great fan following among the youth, wants to sustain the interest towards the party.

'King' releases on Christmas day

Nagarjuna’s much-awaited King is hitting the screens on the eve of Christmas festival - December 25th. Producer Shiva Prasad Reddy informed the media that they have completed entire work and releasing it on 25th worldwide with highest number of prints in Nag’s career. Directed by Sreenu Vytla the film has Trisha and Mamta Mohandas as the female lead. Another six glam queens - Genelia, Charmee, Anushka, KamnaJethmalini, - have appeared in a special song which will be major attraction in the movie.

Michael Jackson close to death reports UK media

London: Pop legend Michael Jackson is suffering from a rare lung condition and is “close to death”, a British newspaper has claimed. Jackson needs to undergo an emergency transplant operation but he is too weak to be rushed into surgery and may even be fighting for his life, the newspaper quoted Ian Halperin. He is penning a biography on the singer, as saying. According to Halperin, 50-year-old Jackson has been diagnosed with alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, a genetic condition that can be fatal in severe cases, and the singer is now so ill he can barely speak and has lost as much as 95 per cent of the vision in his left eye. “He has had alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency for years but it's gotten worse. He needs a lung transplant but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. It's the bleeding that's the most problematic part. It could kill him," Halperin said. Author Halperin has also claimed that Jackson's lung conditions, which affects only one in 5,000 Americans, has been difficult to treat due to its associated health problems. “For years, Michael has been working with his own doctors to try to make sure it doesn't progress. He has been on many medications that have stabilised him,” Halperin was quoted by the British newspaper as saying. Though Jackson's official spokeswoman wouldn't comment on Halperin's claims but his elder brother Jermaine seemed to have confirmed that the singer has serious health issues.

'Akasamantha' is being dubbed

‘Akashamantha’ produced by ‘Dil’ Raju on Sri Venkateswara Creations banner is presently in dubbing work. Starring Prakash Raj and Trisha, the movie has been directed by Radha Mohan. Neninthe - Review

Puri Jagannath and Ravi Teja have united for their fourth film after the hat trick hits Itlu Sravani Subrahmanyam, Idiot and Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi. The director highlights the pros and cons of the film industry and how the technicians are exploited. At the same time he satirizes the media, the yellow journalism and the sheer reverence of the fans towards the film stars. As a whole the film is "for, of and about" the film industry. Ravi (Ravi Teja) works as an assistant director and Narayana (MS Narayana) as co-director for director Idli Satyanarayana (Brhamanandam) in the Telugu film industry. During the shooting Ravi meets Sandhya (Siya), a group dancer. Sandhya's sister Surekha (Surekhavani) get married to Rambabu (Krishna Bhagawan) who harasses her only to exploit Sandhya. Ravi narrates an interesting story to the producer (Sayaji Shinde). But he is not ready to take the risk with a debutant director like Ravi.

'Snehageetham' completes first schedule

The movie has completed the first schedule after shooting at numerous beautiful locales in Warangal. A press meet was organized recently to relate the news. The movie directed by 'Madhura' Sridhar casts three heroes and two heroines, who are all debutants. The new artists have all been short listed by a star hunt programme. To bring in the performance quotient, Suhani has been roped in as a third heroine. During the press meet Producer Lagadapati Sridhar said, "We have completed about thirty percent of the shooting in this first schedule. Suhani has also been selected to play as one of the heroines in this film. As a producer, I gave my priority to the subject of the movie since its initiation. The story depicts the present generation youth, their aspirations and responsibilities. 'Snehageetham' is being made as a feel good musical entertainer with good songs. I strongly believe that by undertaking a unique subject with a talented team; we can make small budget movies to come out in a better way by associating with big banners."

Puri retorts for comments on 'Neninthe'

Puri Jagannath has directed the movie ‘Neninthe’ starring Ravi Teja and Shiya in the lead. DVV Danayya has produced the film on Universal Media banner. Based on life behind the big screen in Tollywood, the movie is a satire on film industry. The premiere show of ‘Neninthe’ was screened yesterday on 17th December. After the event, director Puri spoke to the media about his project. According to the director, the film is the tale of an assistant director and his struggle to achieve in cinema. The storyline also has a sideline that showcases life in Tollywood that is comprised of producers, directors, artists, technicians, distributors and most importantly the viewers. The flick is a realistic approach with a commercial touch to entertain. The posters and some dialogues on heroines have reportedly whipped up concern from some women’s organizations. The director however, insisting said, “"I came to know that few women’s organizations are objecting to the posters of the movie. The posters are not showing anything objectionable, neither the dresses are revealing nor there is any exposure. I don't find any reason to object them. I also heard them to have said that film makers are sustaining in the shade of women. In fact, it’s not us but them who are utilizing women to make a living.”

Nayanthara steps into Ileana’s shoes

Ileana is struck up on bad times it seems for she sprained her leg during shooting for a movie. The doctors have advised her to take complete rest till she recovers. Ram is the hero and Hansika, Sheela plays the heroines in this movie produced by MS Raju on Sumanth Art Productions banner. The movie said to be a youth and mass entertainer is hitting screens after Ram’s last ‘Ready’. On this occasion, producer MS Raju spoke to the media said, “The shooting for this movie has been completed including the stunt scenes. Some more of the songs are now being filmed in huge sets constructed at Rama Naidu Studios and Ramoji Film Cities. Maska is targeted for the youngsters and masses alike. Aditya music distributes the audio that will be launched on 21st Dec. Officially cassettes and cds will be available for the public from 24th Dec. Music director Chakri has composed his best till date for the movie. Kandi Konda has penned down the six songs.” “We usually cast Suneel in entertaining roles in all movies made on our banner. ‘Maska’ is no different as he plays a role in the same line. Director and Producer Tammareddy Bharadwaja handed the membership card to Vishnu, in the presence of Fighters Association President Satish and Secretary Pavankumar. During the process, Vishnu said, “We have to learn innovative techniques in composing stunts. I am planning to invite top technicians who work for Hollywood movies like the Bond series and conduct seminars here. Similarly, I would like to create opportunities for our fighters to learn more about the editing and visual effects, so that they can prove their abilities to everyone.” The President and Secretary of the association expressed their happiness, as the young hero who is the son of a top hero and producer has shown keen interest to be in their club.

'Neninthe' with 250 prints

Universal Media’s production ‘Neninthe’ starring Ravi Teja and Shiya as the hero and heroines has obtained censorship with a U/A certificate from the board. DVV Danayya is making the movie on the same banner. The movie is going to be released on 18th this month and the makers have gone a step ahead by making about 250 prints on a grand scale. The movie’s theme lies on the life of people behind the big screen of Tollywood ranging from the producers, directors, stars to the technicians, crew and others. The approach of this film is realistic, close to life without disturbing commercialism, says the director. Many films with this backdrop are made in Telugu like 'Kathanayakudi Katha' with NTR, 'Doctor –Cine Actor' with Krishna, 'Sivaranjani' a huge hit with Jayasudha in the title role directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. A. R. Rahman wins London critics award

Danny Boyle, an English filmmaker came up with the much appreciated film 'Slumdog Millionaire' with the background score of India's very own A. R. Rahman. The film was about a poor Mumbai youth who takes part in a game show to win the first prize and eventually become a millionaire. The London Critics Association has lauded A. R. Rahman's talent by awarding him the prestigious London Critics Award for the year 2008. 'I am happy with this award and I'd like to credit Danny Boyle for extracting appropriate music from me. Rahman appreciates Danny Boyle

India’s A.R. Rahman may have composed music for a London West End musical, for a Chinese film, for over 100 Indian films and even conducted the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, but the ace musician claims that working on British director Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire was a challenge. All that Danny wanted was a score that mirrored the energy of the script – that blended with the story of the poor orphan right up to his grand win. But the twist was, Danny gave A.R. Rahman merely three weeks for composition, which is less than half the time he usually takes. "We had met and talked about it for about two months. But I had to finish it quickly as Boyle wanted to start mixing the film by August," said Rahman. Adding, "It's probably one-fifth of the time I normally take. For one thing, a normal film has about 150 cues. But in this one there were only 17-18 cues for me. Boyle uses less music but very efficiently."

Bobby Duvall and Brando had a race to drop their pants. But Bobby's got hitched, so Brando beat him, bent over and spread his cheeks and mooned everybody," he remembers. Adding, "We had this belt made: Moon Champion, hand-tooled leather. Brando got it!"

Seven Pounds made Will cautious

Will Smith says playing a depressed, suicidal tax officer in his new film Seven Pounds, has made him take greater control over his own destiny. The movie is about a US IRS agent whose past mistakes come back to taunt and haunt him. Will insists that the role has made him more cautious and prepared to face whatever fate doles out to him. "That's one of the elements that attracted me to this idea – how much control you can have over your life but how much you don't have once you relinquish it," he said. Adding, "I make choices in my life after working on this film. I found myself walking down the stairs, it was raining, and I found myself grabbing extra-hard on the railing. Just think, one slip – and that's it. You have to be conscious. You don't have control after you've set these dominoes in motion. Your control point is before you make this crucial mistake."

Neninthe in Hindi?

A unique movie ‘Show’ featuring just two characters throughout the movie, by director Neelakant on Indira Productions banner, debuted producer Manjula as an actress to silver screen. Later, ‘Pokiri’ starring Mahesh Babu was Manjula’s second production that broke the record history of 75 years. Right now, Manjula is enacting and producing a film, by a debutant director with Charmme in the lead, on Indira Productions. The film completed shooting, without much publicity, and is titled as 'Kavya's Dairy'. The makers are planning to release it on 14th Jan, 2009.

'Arundhathi' made on 13 crores

Historical subjects to be made in celluloid costs high and the upcoming ‘Arundhathi’ is no exception. The movie demanded lots which made the makers go on a spend thrift resulting in a budget of 13 crores. Starring Anushka in a dual role, director Kodi Ramakrishna is making the movie ‘Arundhathi’, produced by Shyam Prasad Reddy on Mallemala Entertainments banner. It is getting released in the month of January. The shooting schedule lasted for 264 days over a span of two years. At first, the production cost was estimated as 4 Crores, but it exceeded to 13 Crores on its completion. A total of 3-lakhs and 20 thousand feet of film strip had been exposed in making the movie. Production costs rose due to a garden that was planted in an old palace located at Banaganapalli which was under maintenance for two months. The old palace was also painted at random for filming and the same was converted into an old house for some scenes. The movie is getting ready for release on 9th January, 2008.

Vishal is back with 'Pista'

GK Films Corporation is producing the movie ‘Pista’ in Telugu and Tamil, starring action star Vishal and Shriya in the lead cast. Ayyappan is directing the movie, produced by Vikram Krishna. Producer Vikram Krishna speaking to the press said, “The movie is planned to be made on a large scale budget. Director Ayyappan’s script is captivating and has a diverse concept. Vishal’s character in ‘Pista’ stands apart from his earlier roles and will be entertaining.” Music is being composed by Manisharma, which is one more addition. The makers are determined about the movie’s reach and confident that it will be a splendorous hit made under their production banner. The movie is now being filmed which was started on 3rd December. Plans are on to wind up the shooting in a single schedule from 19th Jan to 5th March, to groom the movie for an April release in both the languages. Prakash Raj, Ali, Tanikella Bharani, MS Narayana, Telangana Sekuntala and Annapurna are also a part of the cast. Priyan handles cinematography while VT Vijayan does the editing work. Lyrics are penned down by Vennelakanti, Sahithi, Ananth Sriram and dialogues are by Shashank Vennelakanti.

Vishal’s last ‘Salute’ is a forgettable movie and we should hold on to see if ‘Pista’ is hard-hitting.

Sravanthi Movies begins production

Sravanan, an associate of AR Murugadoss debuts as a director with a new movie starring Ram and Kajal in the lead. Sravanthi Ravi Kishore is producing the movie on Sravanthi Movies banner. Based on a love story, the movie began to roll today on 12th Dec at Ramanaidu Studios. Director K.Raghavendra Rao sounded the clap board for the Muhurtham (First) shot, while K. Vijaybhaskar switched on the camera. Speaking during the event, Ram said that he’s happy to be acting in his home productions and he promises that it will be an entertaining movie. Kajal expressed that she was delighted to enact the heroine under a prestigious banner. The regular shooting for this movie has been planned to start from January. Ram, Kajal, Sravanan, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, Abburi Ravi are present on the occasion.

Puri Jagannath directs his brother Sairam with Bindu

Action is the favorite genre of established director Puri Jagannath who carved a niche for his movies based on captivating storyline. He also holds the name for introducing successors of star actors. Presently, he's directing 'Neninthe' starring Ravi Teja and Siya that is set for an earlier release. The latest buzz is this successful director has joined hands with Adithya Ram the head of Adithya Ram Group of Companies, for a project under which a line of movies will be produced on a corporate level. The makers have planned to make 10 movies in a span of two years which will be the first set. Chota K Naidu debuts in AdithyaRam’s production

Popular cinematographer of many block busters, Chota K Naidu has captured the top heroes into his camera. He also did 'Dil' Raju's produce 'Kotha Bangaru Lokam' which is said to be the latest Tollywood hit this season. In a press-meet today at director Puri Jagannath's office it has been announced that the head of Adithya Ram Group of Companies, Adithya Ram is joining hands with Puri Jagannath to make a slew of films with popular directors of the industry. Speaking to the press director Jagannath revealed that, one of the films in this series will be by cinematographer turned director Chota K Naidu. And that Puri Jagannath himself will script the movie. Director VV Vinayak who was also present on the occasion expressed his happiness and said, “Chota K Naidu has put-in a lot of effort for our films. As a token of appreciation, we will render our complete support to him.” Chota K Naidu is presently handling cinematography for NTR and VV Vinayak’s latest flick which is still unnamed.

Small budget producers go on a strike

Producers of small budget movies are on a 'Relay hunger strike' from today at the premises of FilmChamber of Commerce. The protest has been organized to condemn the lease system of theatres that is in vogue. Producers are unable to screen their low budget movies in at present. Management of theatres plays a prominent part in churning this issue. The makers expressed their distress by saying that if not for a producer, there can’t be a technician, artist or theatre for that matter in the industry. It’s their money that has been invested in crores which fuels the business. However, in contemporary times situation is worse which makes the producer unable to afford his movie’s release. Even if he manages to bring it out, the maker gets burdened by loans. Today they have put forth few demands before the theatre management for consideration. They also apprised if the solution is not found in a week's time they will go on a full fledged hunger-strike.

Condemning recent Mumbai terror attacks, and to express homage to the brave soldiers and the deceased, Telugu Film Industry is organizing a peace procession this month on 14th. The news was shared by the president of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, KS RamaRao in a press-meet held on Thursday. Briefing on the procedures KS Rama Rao said, “On Dec 14th at 10:00 am, the participants will pay respects to the deceased at Ravindhra Bharathi, after which the peace procession will start off from Ravindhra Bharathi and proceed to the Mahatma Gandhi statue in AP Assembly, where they will offer bouquets instigating the need for peace. Members from all the divisions of film making will participate in the event.” President of MAA Murali Mohan, President of Directors Association N.Shankar, Chief Secretary AP Film Employees Federation Venu, C.Kalyan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Benarjee, Hema, Vijayanand, Kadambari Kirankumar, Vijayendar Reddy and other members participated in the meet.

If a movie doesn’t do well, it isn’t anyone’s fault.” The audience loves it when she sports a swimsuit, but there are those who criticize her for it. How does she take criticism? “Criticism never hurts because I take it very normally. But recently, I have been subjected to a lot of unnecessary criticism. Even if I don’t do anything, people criticize me.” On Reema Sen’s caustic remarks about her, Nayan says, “I’m not here to make friends. If they have problems with me, it’s their problem. Not mine. I don’t have any problems with anyone.”

Director Kodi Ramakrishna is a specialist in creating movies that are outstanding in technical aspects and graphics. Archeology department issues a notice to KBL’s maker

Varun Sandesh and Swetha Prasad played the lead cast in ‘Dil’ Raju’s production ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ directed by debutant Srikanth Addala. Reliable sources have leaked out news that the State Archeology Department officials will be issuing a notice to the producer, regarding filming some sequences in the locales of Buddhist excavations around Visakhapatnam, without formal permission. Adding fuel to the fire, a voluntary organization has criticized the makers for filming dances in a spiritual place.

Chandu's next on 12th Dec

The movie that is youthfully titled ‘10th class’ casts Bharath and Sharanya in the lead, was directed by debutant Chandu. Venkat Shyam Prasad produced the movie on his production company’s banner. The movie was a hit and he then directed ‘Note Book’ in which music director Koti’s son played hero. As the second film became a dud, he took a gap from directing movies. Chandu is now going to start a new film with a whole new cast of debutants. He is planning to produce and direct this teenage love story, which will be launched on 12th Dec at Annapurna Studios.

Prabhas’s new getup is 'Parashu Ramudu'

K Raghavendra Rao is the director, who diverted the routine trend of Telugu films into the commercial path. It is known that Raghavendra Rao has begun his second innings in Tollywood with 'Annamayya' and went on to make devotional movies like 'Sri Ramadasu', 'Pandurangadu'. The ace director is now planning to bring the real life story of Parashuramudu - one of the 10 avatars of Lord MahaVishnu in to celluloid. JK Bharavi, who is an expert in gathering info on such subjects, is right now focused to envisage the script for the movie. Latest gen is the title role will be played by Prabhas. The movie was a mass entertainer which was a mega hit for Gopichand compared to the commercial success of his previous hits. Next to 'Shouryam', hero Gopichand is going to act again in the direction of Siva. Kajal has been selected to play opposite Gopichand in this pipelined movie. Sources say that this film which will go to the floors in January, will be produced by Bhagavan and J.Pulla Rao together. The producers have been waiting for two years now to get an opportunity to produce a film with Gopichand.

Going gaga over Tollywood

The Cheran, Pasupathy and Nithin Sathya starrer 'Raman Thediya Seethai', is all set to be remade in Telugu. The Telugu version is titled 'Pelli Patrika' and Jagan, the director of the original will wield the megaphone for the Telugu version. The female cast of the movie, including Karthika, Kajal Agarwal, Vimala Raman and Ramya Nambeesan. 'Raman Thediya Seethai', produced by Moserbaer went on to become a hit and acclaimed rave reviews. The plot narrated the journey of a young man and his search for a suitable bride. Nithin Sathya and Pasupathy will be a part of the Telugu version. Search is on for the lead cast. Similarly, Abhirami Ramanathan's forthcoming release 'Panchathantiram' a hilarious entertainer which is directed by Raju Eswaran. The movie stars Prakash Raj, Jayaram and Nasser in lead roles. Plans are on to remake the movie in Telugu by Abhirami Ramanathan himself.

'City Life' hits screens on Dec 12

Starring RK of ‘Hyderabad Nawabs’ and ‘The Angrez’ fame as the hero, and Ramya as the heroine, debutant director Sauda has directed this movie. The shooting and post production work for this movie has been completed. It is all set to be released on the 12th of December. The intro line starts from the movie’s name which is quite similar to the classic. Moreover, this new film is also said to be a full length comedy entertainer. Even though, the plots are not the same, the tone of the movie seems to be in the same line. City Life tells the tale of a don residing in an old city who starts to learn English. His hilarious attempts to achieve his dream make this movie entertaining, says the maker. VenuMadhav and Aziz Nassar are a part of the cast among few others artistes.

Yuva Rajyam, the youth wing of Praja Rajyam now has actor Pawan Kalyan as President. Chiranjeevi's PrajaRajyam party is going places and on a steady rise in the political scenario. 'A Wednesday' imported to Tollywood

Kirankumar Koneru, proprietor of Shreya Productions forayed to production with ‘Homam’ in the direction of JD Chakravarthi. Following this successful venture, he’s now going to remake the sensational Hindi hit ‘A Wednesday’ in Telugu. This Bollywood movie is a blockbuster hit directed by debutant Neeraj Pande, produced on UTV Motion Pictures banner. The prominent cast includes Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, Jimmy Shergil, Amir Bashir and Deepal Shaw. Said as the most gripping plot, the movie as the title depicts is about the series of incidents between 2 pm to 6 pm on a Wednesday. The story is quite similar to the recent Mumbai assaults, which is about three convicts and a bomb threat. The aftermath of assault is still vivid which might turn it into a hit once again in Telugu. The Hindi version reaped lucre of about 38 lakhs from worldwide screening. The rights to remake the movie is said to be acquired by the head of Sri Shreya Productions, Koneru Kirankumar. Once the cast and crew get finalized, the shooting will commence.

Director Kommineni is no more

The maker of hit films, popular cine director Komineni Seshagiri Rao breathed his last today in Chennai. Hailing from Ponnekallu, a village close to Tenali, Komineni was an ardent fan of cinema from his early age. He started as an actor in Telugu cinema playing villain roles at first. During the period, his dialogue delivery in an aptly modulated reverberating voice bought him wide recognition. He became a director with the movie ‘Devathalara Deevinchandi’ starring Giri Babu in the lead. The movie became a hit after which he directed ‘Simha Garjana’ and ‘Thayaramma Bangaraiah’. The latter was remade in Tamil casting Sivaji Ganesan which was also a hit. Apart from these, the filmmaker directed two movies in Kannada. In his career span as a director, he made about twenty eight movies in entirety. The director who passed away at his age of 69 is also the brother of popular music director Chakravarthi.

Vishal starts new movie ‘Pista’

After the colossal debacle of his summer release, Salute, hero Vishal took some time off to think about his career plan. After much dillydallying, he has begun another new movie in Tamil and Telugu titled ‘Pista’. Newcomer Swamy is directing the movie while his brother Vikram Krishna produces it in Telugu. For Murgadoss, his Hindi version of Ghajini has almost been an obsessive love affair for the last two years. Finally, his poem of love is getting ready for release on Christmas. Rumour has it that while shooting the film, he became enamoured by the Bollywood way of filmmaking and in due course, become a fan of Aamir Khan and cinematographer Ravi K Chandran. It is learnt that Murgadoss wants to migrate to Bollywood and concentrate only on Hindi films. The buzz is that people from Red Chillies, Shah Rukh’s home production, have met the director and asked him for a script narration in the first week of January. Asin has promised priority tatkal dates for his next film if SRK is the hero. As per our sources, Ravi K Chandran, a SRK loyalist has recommended Murgadoss for the project.

Trisha seems to be always in news for her late night activities and party life. The latest buzz is that Vishal invited his friends from film industry to a party at his residence. Trisha, Nayanathara, Ramya Krishna are said to be there among many other young stars. “Initially both Trisha and Nayanathara seems to be bonded well but by the time the party goes to end, Trisha, who has already taken enough alcohol started scolding Nayanathara, blaming her for taking her film chances,” said a source, who presented at the party. The source said that Nayanatha left the place with out saying anything to Trisha.

Ileana hurt while filming

Spectra Media banner’s movie starring Nithin and Ileana, in the direction of Paruchuri Madhu Murali is presently being canned. Producer Ramana is making the film which was launched during the season of Vijayadasami. It was speculated for the shooting of some key sequences were carried out at Nanakramguda, in the sets of Mahesh’s ‘Athadu’. Unfortunately, while filming actress Ileana took a bad step which sprained her leg. The filming was temporarily halted and doctors were bought in. Prabhu Deva bereaved

Prabhu Deva’s elder son Vishal has passed away in the wee hours of Thursday in Chennai. The young boy was just 13 years old and it will be an irreplaceable loss for the multi faceted filmmaker. Prabhu Deva, had made a name for himself as a choreographer and played the hero in several films including Kadhalan, Rasaiyya, Indu, before becoming as a successful director. He has directed films like Pournami, Nuvvastanantae Nenodantana in Telugu and Pokiri in Tamil. He is currently wielding the megaphone for Villu starring Vijay and Nayanthara. Married to Latha, Prabhu deva has three sons - Vishal, Rishi Raghavendra Deva and Adhith Deva. Film personalities including Ajith, Vijay, Prakashraj, Sreeman, director SA Chandrasekharan, cinematographer Raviverman, directors Tharun Gopi, Arun Pandian among others thronged to Prabhu Deva's house. Vishal’s funeral will be at Besant Nagar crematorium this afternoon.

Andamaina Manasulo Heroine Archana Film Career

In a span of two years, Archana has done two movies and appeared in several commercials, including one in which she appeared with Mahendra Singh Dhoni. This small-town girl from Agra sure seems to be going places. “After my first Telugu film, Andamaina Manasulo, I did an art film in Hindi, Saancha — The Mould. I had to lose weight to play a 15-year-old girl in it. I was selected from among 200 girls. The movie has been selected for the Cannes and Dubai film festivals,” she says. Circus will be Archana’s third film, but her first in Kannada. “I play Ganesh’s love interest in the film,” she says, adding that she never interacted much with the Golden Star during the shoot. “I’d heard a lot about him and his film, Mungaru Male. I was really happy to work with him. He’s very dedicated and I liked his professionalism. But Ganesh restricted himself to only hi and bye,” she says.

Rajamouli focuses on Ram Charan, not Sunil

S.S. Rajamouli had agreed to direct a film with Sunil as hero but the date when the director would begin was not fixed. Throwing some light on the issue, the director said, “Presently I am working on Ram Charan's film. As we are totally concentrating on that project, I have no option but to postpone the film with Sunil. The project cannot be treated as shelved. No similarities between Arya and Arya-2?

The sequel of Arya, tentatively titled Arya-2, featuring Allu Arjun in the same role as in the original, is progressing on schedule in Hyderabad. Sukumar, who directed the first Arya, is again the director with Navadeep and Shraddha Das in supporting roles. V. Aditya Babu and Bhogavalli Prasad are producing the film under Aditya Arts banner. The producer plans to send the unit to some picturesque foreign locales very soon. Director Sukumar said, "There will be no similarities between the prequel and the sequel. Only the characters of Arya, Ajay and Gita will be present with the same characteristics as in the first film. However, the story and its movement will be entirely different." Arya brought Allu Arjun to the attention of Telugu youths. It now remains to be seen whether the sequel will outstrip the original's box-office performance.

‘A Wednesday’ to be remade in Telugu

Critically acclaimed Bollywood flick, A Wednesday, is to be remade in Telugu. Kiran Kumar Koneru who produced Homam recently has bought the remake rights from UTV that produced the film in Hindi. A Wednesday has collected nearly 40 Crores and received wide critical praise for its theme and narration by the director Neeraj Pandey. Casting and director’s name would be announced shortly.

of Krishnavamsi’s much-awaited Sasirekha Parinayam was launched in a very formal and simple manner. At a simple media gathering, the audio albums were formally inaugurated by the film’s director, hero Tarun, and veteran lyricist Seetarama Shastry at The ceremony was held at Shabadalaya theatre on Thursday, December 04, 2008. Lyricist Seetarama Shastry praised Krishnavamsi for making a film reflecting Telugu culture and ethos. “He is the only director in Telugu Cinema today who is capable of bring back the glory of golden age of Tollywood. I have seen the film and my confidence on him has further enhanced. It is a beautiful film,” he praised. Shastry also asked Krishnavamsi to hold a special premiere show for the media before the release to which Krishnavamsi immediately agreed. Tarun said he is thankful for Krishnavamsi for giving him such a beautiful character. “I have learnt a lot from him and this film,” he said. KV said the movie would be released on January 1st. 'Neninte' confirmed for Dec 18 release

Puri Jagannadh directed Neninte is getting released on December 18th with highest number of prints in Ravi Teja's career. Producer D Danaiah has confirmed that the movie would hit the marquees on the scheduled date on December 18th. Starring Ravi Teja and newcomer Siya in the lead roles, the film is set in the backdrop of Telugu Film world. It is a story about an assistant director reaching to the top position in the film industry. "We are planning to release with 15 prints in USA. It is highest number for Ravi Teja's career in US and 300 prints are earmarked on the whole," he said. Music of the movie would be released on Sunday, December 7, 2008. Chakri has scored the songs.

Ileana injured

The incident happened on Tuesday night in Hyderabad while canning a song sequence. Her right leg dislocated and she just collapsed on the sets. And then she was immediately taken to Hospital. It wasn’t a fracture but a severe sprain.Tollywood numero uno star Ileana was injured on Tuesday night while shooting for director Parachuri Murali’s film. She sprained her leg badly and was immediately rushed to Apollo hospital and the doctors gave her treatment. She was advised bed rest for few days. So Ileana went off for Mumbai to take rest for a week.

The popular star of recent times Varun Sandesh of ‘Happy Days’ and ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ fame is going to play the hero. A photographer from the Hindi movie ‘Race’, Ravi Yadav is going to debut as a director in this movie. ‘Dil’ Raju teaming up with another producer is going to make this movie. Once AVM's film gets completed that casts Varun Sandesh in the lead, the shooting for this sequel of 'Maro Charithra' will commence.

Ravi Teja 'Kick'(s) into third schedule

RR Movie Makers next is ‘Kick’ starring Ravi Teja and Ileana, in the direction of Surendar Reddy. Maker of mega hit movies like Kalyan Ram’s ‘Athanokkade’, NTR’s ‘Ashok’ and Mahesh Babu’s ‘Athidi’, Surendar is now churning out a hit for Ravi Teja. Currently, the second schedule of the shooting is in progress. The film highlights the characterization of Ravi Teja, and is said to be made differently compared to the earlier films of Suredar Reddy. The movie will soon kick into the third phase of filming. 'Agyaat' starts 9th

The untouched genres of cinema were always explored by filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma who has a niche for himself in Telugu and Hindi. Previously, he was making a movie on the life in tinselville titled ‘Ran’ with Amitabh Bachchan. The movie has been paused until Big B regains his health back which gave plenty of time for the director. He started off with a new venture debuting Telugu hero Nithin to Bollywood with ‘Agyaat’. Amongst the blood feud in Srilanka, RGV is going to film this thriller flick in a single schedule. The movie is a new experience which will bring out the emotions from people at times of conundrum. It resembles the format of a reality show, says RGV. Nithin is supposed to play the role of a self obsessed hero in the movie among a group of other characters. The regular shooting of this movie will commence from the 9th of December.

Producer Trivikram Rao is no more

Thatineni Trivikrama Rao forayed into Telugu film industry as a producer with 'Monagadu' starring Shoban Babu in the lead. He then co-produced 'Potelu Punnamma', followed by this second production many a successful and memorable movies has been made by the producer. NTR's 'Justice Chowdary', Balakrishna's 'Bobbili Simham', Chiranjeevi's 'Kondaveeti Donga' are few among his production house's hits and he also made movies with Krishna, Krishnam Raju. Before his retirement, he produced 'Prematho Raa' casting Venkatesh as the hero. Trivikram produced about 27 films and took off from producing movies. On 2nd December, T.Trivikram Rao got admitted to NIMS hospital, and reported to have deceased at around 2am this morning. Hailing from Vizag, he is survived by his wife, three daughters and one son. The son is now abroad for studies. The last rites will be performed after the arrival of his son, on Saturday. On acknowledging the news, many prominent people of film industry expressed their deep condolences. It is learnt that PRP leader Chiranjeevi paid a visit to the hospital.

Trisha is getting to Bollywood for clauses

The petite beauty Trisha who has been ruling the roost when it comes to the southern circuit has been keeping the entire film folk and the media on their toes when it comes to her stint in Bollywood. 'Vinayakudu' controversy

If a verdict gets passed not to file cases against trivial issues over the film industry, it will be a boon for the filmmakers. Because filing petitions against petty matters over movies is increasing rapidly. The latest controversy is on Prem Movies produced movie ‘Vinayakudu’. Starring Krishnudu and Sonia in the lead cast, the movie was directed by debutant director Saikiran Adivi. The title was aptly christened to depict the hero and his physical appearance in a jocular manner. But, it has been misinterpreted by a petitioner. Objecting for using the deity's name (Vinayakudu) as the title for a movie, Ravinuthala Seshidhar filed a petition in High-Court on Monday (01.12.08), asking to change the title of the film as it demoralizes the name of God. Maybe in future filmmakers might be needed to recheck each and every scene for controversy which will spoil creativity once for all. Hope such drastic changes shouldn’t happen in the near future.

‘Nuvve Kavali’ was the movie that debuted actress Richa Pallod to the Telugu screens. Tarun played the hero in this movie, made in the direction of K. Shahukar Janaki’s history in cinema spans by over 385 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam languages. The yesteryear actress debuted in the Telugu movie ‘Shahukaaru’ with NT Rama Rao, produced by Vijaya Productions. Sound Engineer Sridhar passes away

Iconic Sound Engineer H Sridar expired due to cardiac arrest today morning at 8 am. He was 50. His sound engineering has been a great asset to modern technical directors like Mani Ratnam and Ram Gopal Varma. His work got national awards for 4 times for the films Mahanandi (Kamal Hassan), Dil Se (Mani Rathnam), Lagaan (Ashutosh Gowarikar) and Kannathil Muthamittal (Mani Ratnam). Sridhar also worked for albums of Goerge Harrison (Beatles fame), Pandit Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussain and John McLaughlin. May his soul rest in peace.
