Producers of small budget movies are on a 'Relay hunger strike' from today at the premises of FilmChamber of Commerce. The protest has been organized to condemn the lease system of theatres that is in vogue. Producers are unable to screen their low budget movies in at present. Management of theatres plays a prominent part in churning this issue. The makers expressed their distress by saying that if not for a producer, there can’t be a technician, artist or theatre for that matter in the industry. It’s their money that has been invested in crores which fuels the business. However, in contemporary times situation is worse which makes the producer unable to afford his movie’s release. Even if he manages to bring it out, the maker gets burdened by loans. Today they have put forth few demands before the theatre management for consideration.
